Ever thought about experiencing a slow and painful death? Read this book.At first, I was actually quite proud of KIB for having the opportunity to publish his work - that first came into popularity on a writing website called Wattpad. Considering it has gathered 70+ million reads online and was able to attract the eyes of a Filipino publishing company, so I thought "this book might be good".But I was bloody wrong. This book was both terrible and unfair. And here's why. . .I supposed every single one of us was expecting a published work to be fully edited and has been through a lot of revising and drafting for the best results. But no, this book is a first draft and not a good one at that. And yes, it's traditionally published. Can't see the unfairness yet? Well, a lot of writers took years to perfect their crafts and we're not even talking about the actual querying and all of that publishing stuff that almost takes longer than the actual writing process, and this book got published just because of its large audience? So does this mean that writers should take popularity into consideration more than making quality content just because some publishing companies care more for their reputation than their writers? I'm not saying that popular books don't deserve to be published, I'm actually onboard with that because it's a good advantage for marketing, but for pete's sake, make it quality enough to be worth the read and the money if you ever dreamed of acquiring long-lasting success. And that's where the "terrible" comes in. First off, grammar errors. It had a ton of it. Did this book even went through an editor? Probably not. Filipino language isn't even that hard to write if you're a native, and simple rereading can easily correct those errors. Second, the plot. What the heck? What kind of a book would have an unfinished ending? I know this is a series, but still, every book needs to have some sort of conclusion even if you desired making a cliff hanger for future books. This novel contains plotholes and lacks climax, tension, and reason. Like why these kids never even tried plotting their escape? Why does this thing even happening? How do these handsome students got more authority than their teachers? And why do they even bother having celebrations and parties if they're just killing each other every night? Does studying in this university even matter if killing is a law?Overall, this a very very disappointing read. I would not recommend it to anyone - unless if you want to die early. There are a lot more books with unique concepts that are a thousand times better than this one.
