Chicken Soup for the Horse Lover's Soul II: Inspirational Tales of Passion, Achievement and Devotion
My ten year old received this book at her barn Christmas gift exchange and she asked me to read it too...........kind of reminds me of the Rosmary Wells book..........Read to your bunny every day and soon your bunny will read to you! This is the first time my daughter has handed me a book and asked me if I'd like to read it. Of course I did even though I probably wouldn't have otherwise! I hope we get to share more books over the years. My favorite story was "Hero of the Week." How could someone just walk away from a horse like that? Poor thing - so starved it was amazing to be alive and the vision of its tale glued to the ground by the extreme layers of manure made my stomach churn. I am so glad this horse found loving people to care for it!! I also loved the cartoon of the little girl building a bigger chimmney so Santa could bring her a horse - if this worked, my daughter would be working on a bigger chimmney for our house right now too! The story about "Horse Mania - An Incurrable Afflicition" summed my daughter up to a "t." This city girl would never have dreamed of being able to tack up a horse before I became a mother! Must say that I find horse to be gentle creatures with "dog-like" qualities - especially when I have a bag of carrots in my coat pocket!!
