Books like The Resort

This author is the master of starting slowly and building to a crescendo. Knowing this going into the book helps the suspense build as little, bizarre things continue to plague this vacationing family.It begins with people at this isolated, desert resort acting a bit weird and, of course, creepy. Everything seems just a bit off and becomes increasingly so as the story progresses which made it increasingly difficult for me to put down.There were times near the middle where I felt like it was digressing into a facsimile of The Shining. I know this author has been heavily influenced by King. Then the similarity ends and the story takes a Laymon like twist that is also not quite Laymon either. It is Bentley Little's unique style that I am beginning to recognize and appreciate.Five stars because I love this kind of thing.
