This is the premiss of The Creeper, book two in the series created by Tania Carver.Carver ups the ante in the second story, as we get a chilling and creepy story. The Creeper is stalking his type of woman, becoming a part of their lives and then attacking them at their most vulnerable. D.I. Phil Brennan is back investigating. His girlfriend Marina is on maternity leave, so Phil is forced by his superiors to take on another psychologist. We are slowly getting to know the team that works with Phil, including the smart Anni. There is a new face in Rose Martin, an ambitious young detective. Will Phil be able to outsmart The Creeper?I love it when you feel like a series is coming together. This is what it feels like here, with book two. Although not as horribly gruesome as The Surrogate, we get a strong story of stalking, control and mind games. The only thing I missed was Marina, stuck at home with her baby. The pace is just perfect.I don’t think this series can be read out of sequence. There are far too many references to book one.A lovely nightmarish thriller. I am going to lock my door and hope that it is still safe inside!
