The Greatness of Saturn: A Therapeutic Myth

This deceptively simple book may just be the single best introduction I have yet found to astrology and Tantra. Framed around a version of astrological myth (the mythology central to the meaning of the traditional planets in Hindu astrology), The Greatness of Saturn presents not only a useful overview of astrological theory for both the general reader and the esotericist, it also includes a valuable section on Tantric remedies for common disturbances in life. Dr. Svoboda knows Jyotish (astrology), Tantra (spiritual magic), and Ayurveda (esoteric medicine) inside and out as a long-time practitioner of all of these disciplines. He brings them together in this volume as a coherent and accessible point of entry to both Jyotish and Tantra, not as high-flown philosophical discourse but as practical ways of reframing and sanctifying our life experience. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
