Witch's Journal

2009, Selene Silverwind

4.9/5

I've always been interested in the practice of witchcraft, more so on an intellectual level than an interest in becoming a practitioner myself. I like reading stories about witches, and might some day like to write one, so I looked on this book more as research and to satisfy my curiosity than a primer for myself.I thought it worked really well. It's laid out like a scrap book, so it looks pretty, and that means that the title works well too. It goes through various subjects, from an introduction, to the idea of what witchcraft is, the tools and ideologies connected to it, and then to the practicalities of actual spells.I found the spiritual aspects interesting, especially things that are linked to the earth, like crystals and things like that. I also didn't know much about tarot, so that was interesting for me. I like the ideals witches are meant to live by too.I don't know how comprehensive this book is. It was interesting to me as a total novice, but people who are more steeped in the subject of witchcraft might not get as much from it.
