Books like Wake: Fire and Ash

I'm conflicted. On one hand I enjoy when a sci-fi story chooses to focus on a female main character and make her a powerful, intelligent figure with agency.On the other hand, this is a pretty run of the mill planetary invasion story with a chosen one liberating the oppressed masses to aid her in thwarting the evil invaders.There was a pretty neat twist at the end which made me hopeful for interesting things in future volumes. The main character gains some and loses some and the moralities of the story weren't so clear cut, which was nice.I will say though, that the way the main character is drawn, screams of a male artist.
