The Parting Glass
4 stars. Review posted May 4, 201472 pages. Time and again I'm amazed at how much Lanyon affects me with his short reads. The Parting Glass is no exception. No wasted word, no wasted breath…just beautiful. It's a wonderfully accomplished reunion story; emotional, poignant, and heart-wrenching. Gawd, it hurt so good. The icing on the cake is the beautiful cover. Love it!While The Parting Glass worked just fine as a stand-alone for me, I feel a bit tempted to go back and check out In a Dark Wood.Trembling hands, a craving mindStay strong, resist temptationDon't let him downLet it out and let me explainDon't run, let's not say goodbye yetOpen your eyes, don't hideValue yourself, you're worth lovin'Your voice is on my mindMemories echoing back to meDistance, time, and spaceThey can't touch usLet's slay the monsters togetherSensation, pleasure areRippling through me, overwhelming meI missed this…usDon't you ever let goI clutch your hand to my chestTo feel that familiar rhythmGuiding us back to each otherHome…wherever home isReach out and give me your handI'd do anything for youAll you have to do is ask\
