Frankenstein

2012Rick Walton

4.6/5

A 'Madeline' parody done so well. I love the story of Madeline and I love Halloween so this is a mix perfect for me. I can't decide if this is meant more for adults and people who know the story of Madeline or if this is meant for kids too. It is very well done and funny.Rick Walton captures the essence of that French Madeline story and twist it till it is wicked funny. They form crooked lines and go to the zoo and get sick too. The monsters do loss their heads and eat people so it's not for children faint of heart. I did not read it to my niece while I did read it to the nephew who giggled during the story. He thought Frankenstein was hilarious. This would scare the niece right now. She has gotten few Halloween books this season. She objected to the Halloween decorations being put up so it's a tough phase. As an adult, I think this is brilliant. The nephew gave it 4 stars, but it's so well done that this might be a yearly favorite. It did tickle me and it does have a wicked sense of humor. So know your kid before reading this one to them. There is nothing bloody here or anything they really shouldn't see, it's simply more than usual for kids.
