4.3/5

This volume returned to the tired old tropes of Risa or Riku getting into trouble and Daisuke having to save them. It’s happened so often that even Argentine, a new character, a former Hikari work of art, and his motivations has to include the weary, repetitive damselling in his trap. Dark’s reluctance to help Daisuke was interesting, although it contradicted the premises already laid about sacred maidens and Dark’s own feelings. The scenes with Emiko and Satoshi were intriguing, but at this point Risa and Riku have gotten into trouble so often, a trope that already felt contrived, it’s gotten tiresome. I’m still curious about some of the ongoing arcs involving Satoshi, the Hikari, and the Niwa family, but the Harada twins are seriously dragging the overall plot and its vitality with their damselling.
