Books like Cage of Eden 4

It’s good drama but it’s also fairly contrived.World: The art is solid, other than the gratuitous panty and boob shots but the details in the forest and the animals are all pretty great. The world building is okay, it’s kinda fractured and we’ve stopped looking at what and why of the island and have for the last two books focused on the survivor groups and how each one of them are terrible and bad. Three groups in a row, it’s getting repetitive.Story: The two stories we find here are aight, it’s nothing special and you see the turn coming fairly early. Whether it’s earned is another thing but I’ll talk about those below as they are character issues. The pacing is alright and the drama is interesting. There are still instances where the manga nature of this book takes readers out of the immersive world and into ridiculousness, like the pantie shots and some of the instances with the best friend and the 10 year old child who is running things, it makes no sense and your disbelief pulls you out of the story.Characters: I will say out and out that the turn and the weird situation with the best friend is utterly ridiculous and pretty illogical, out of this situation we have a mass murderer? Makes no sense and is unearned an feels really contrived. Then there’s the stuff with the child which is also pretty illogical and breaks that character cause it’s so utterly ridiculous all the things that are happening. From his/her gender to the power struggle to him/her ruling the group, it is utterly idiotic. The rest of the main core group is getting there in terms of depth. There was a little for Ohmori this arc but her depth with her friend was very short lived and she was pretty okay with her friend dying and just moving on which was an issue. It’s okay but the manga sections of this are really starting to conflict with the overall story, it seems like the author can’t help but insert these things.Onward to the next book!
