Books like The Stories Of Tobias Wolff

This volume is actually three books in one - the story collections Hunters in the Snow and Back in the World, and the novella The Barracks Thief. It’s excellent value for money. My favourites include ‘Maiden Voyage,’ 'The Liar', 'The Rich Brother', and 'Smokers'. There are a few slight-seeming pieces that I didn't think earned their place: ‘Next Door' and ‘Sister.’ Wolff has been labelled a 'dirty realist'; 'Great writer' surely would be more apposite. His two memoirs are also remarkable.
