Books like Powder Monkey

I remember reading this book as a teenager and enjoying it, and as we just finished reading Avi's "Iron Thunder" I thought it would be great to get a boy's perspective from the Southern side fighting aboard the C.S.S. Virginia. While premise of how the boy got aboard the ship is a little weak, I think the over all story was good, especially the details of the effects of battle inside the ship (ringing echos from cannonballs, the heat, etc. Very cool!)We enjoyed this book and I'd recommend reading it as a companion to "Iron Thunder". It makes for a great contrast of both sides.
