Naruto, Vol. 63: World of Dreams

So many rants...where to begin? The only merit of this manga now is how much fanfiction and doujin it has inspired... NaruSasu will always be one of my favorite pairings despite all the wankfest surrounding said pairing. Glad to know that Kishi is pretty much making it canon, with Naruto always chasing after Sasuke and all. No doubt he even goes to sleep with dreams of taking Sasuke (back). I think we should rename this manga as: 《Naruto: Chasing Back an Escaped Wife》. I mean, come on, even some straight dudes can tell Naruto's unnatural obsession with Sasuke is perhaps overstepping the boundaries of mere friendship... Though they, of course, are less amused than I that this entire series is, in fact, the longest gay-manga-in-disguise to have ever graced the manga industry.*Cough*Anyhow. I was supposed to rant about my disappointment and dissatisfaction with this once-great manga.***CONTAINS SPOILERS UP TO CHAPTER 600+***(view spoiler)[Ever since the author pulled a Dragonball-Z on us (reviving everyone from Konoha, wtf...Paine just turned good, just like that?) I never quite felt like reading Naruto anymore. The plot, setting, everything...just got waaaaaaay out of hand. Mass revivals of the dead and everything, just why do people even need to mourn the dead when reviving them is so easy? Everyone would live happily and there would be no point to war because there would be no end to it, what with all those dead people reviving. You practically can't kill anyone, so why bother? Totally don't get what is going on right now...plot is so slow and pointless I basically only need to glance at the first and last page of every new chapter and I am still able to keep up with the plot. I know people died, but you know with all the revival of the dead, it really cheapened death so I don't feel a thing. What is more, Naruto has what we call the Believe-in-Me Eyes (TM). One just needs to take a look into those marvelous blue eyes and instantly be enslaved to his lofty ideals. It used to be difficult for him to persuade anyone to believe in him, but once he 'activated' the Believe-in-Me eyes for the first time, things just became so smooth-sailing for him that it's just ridiculous how easily people begin to take his side. Many have been brainwashed into mindless followers just by staring into those Believe-in-Me Eyes, which is by far the strongest weapon in the manga ever; I'd say that those Believe-in-Me eyes are even more powerful than the Mangekyo-Sharingan, because once you get caught up in the spell, there is no way out of it. Seriously, if I had those eyes I'd pretty much be the president of the world without much hassle. So far the only person who has consistently resisted the brainwashing is Sasuke, and he is trying damn hard to keep it that way. And don't even get me started on Sasuke. Such a disappointment, really. He started off relatively mature, smart, cool and all...but now he's proven himself to be the most immature and stupid character in the manga. So easily manipulated. So easily angered. So illogical with his actions. What has happened to my favorite character is truly depressing--it's like watching a bad horror movie and the only reason I'm still keeping up with this manga is my desire to know what Sasuke's ultimate fate is. I just keep getting disappointed instead, le sigh. There are many more things I would like to rant about, but I'm sleepy and tired so I'll just leave it at this. (hide spoiler)]
