Letters to Anaïs Nin

1988Anaïs Nin

4.2/5

If you are a fan of Anais Nin and Henry Miller as people (not as authors), then this is the book for you. It contains a selection of Miller's letters towards her, so the only unfortunate thing is you only get his side of the conversation. Do not fear, though - it is beautiful and worth it if only just for that. Some of the passages in his letters.... one could write entire books based on his ideas. The description of Greece - and specifically the trip he took to Delphi - is blindingly beautiful. I've liked Miller since forever, but I never thought him capable of this kind of writing, it was absolutely enchanting. I guess he was so good because who was reading the letters was also insanely good. Anyways. Worth it for those who like epistolary works and catching a glimpse into the life of an author in the 30s and 40s.
