Daisy, Dad and the Huge, Small Surprise
We finally got there! The last book in by box set (I’ve since found out there are more books in this series but let me have this moment) – 10 whole reviews! I could have just taken the easy route out and done a series review – probably the better option in hindsight – but instead here we are, I’ve pretty much given up writing them and you’ve given up on reading them (nobody is really going to read a review of a 10th book in a series they haven’t yet started are they?). However I’ve started these so I am determined to finish them (even if it means writing a review that nobody else cares about – at least I will be pleased with the results)In this book we follow Ally as her grandmother is getting married! Which normally would be great news however there are some secret conversations going on in hushed tones. Something is definitely going on that Ally isn’t supposed to knowI can’t believe I finally finished all ten books! Although I do enjoy every book they do get a little slow after reading 10 (in their defence they are designed for young teens so I can’t really blame the books, more like I’m too old and barely clinging to my youth!). However if you are looking for a read that can be done in just a few hours then I’d say pick up these books. They aren’t anything special and they don’t really have any shock factor. However they are just slow, comfortable reads about a family, they’re for a cosy Sunday afternoon when you just want something nice to read.I will say the ending to this one was a little bit predictable and I was disappointed when it turned out to be exactly what I expected. However as I mentioned before I’m not the intended audience for this book so maybe it would have been different had I reviewed this book 10 years ago.I would still recommend these books though, they are fun, the family is quaint and there is always something going on in the Love household. If you want short, quick reads then pick this up from your local library (I wouldn’t say go out and buy them as you can be done with them in a few hours so I don’t think it is really worth it)I am upset that the series is over, I’m not sure if I will be picking up the remaining 4 or 5 books – I don’t own them and I’m quite happy with the natural stopping point of this one. However saying that don’t be surprised if you see a review next year (I like completion!)
