The five books series is the most nerve wrecking series I have ever read, literally. Inspired by Pride and Prejudice on the basis of character construction and few other aspects, one can come across anecdotes from the classics like Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, Works by Ernest Hemingway, Jane Eyre and couple of others. The protagonists Hardin and Tessa are polar opposites yet one and the same. Both have awful childhood which haunts them, finds solace in classics, issues with parents, no friends/less friends, are stubborn and yet, fragile. The author quotes Wuthering Heights, 'Whatever our souls are made of, they are one and the same' and this line is the most truest line about Hardin and Tessa.The fact that they fight against each other so much yet end up with each other again and again is really frustrating and heart touching at the same time. This story is the best example for the proverb, 'If they want to stay they'll find their way back, one way or another.' Yes, one might say their relationship is toxic and abusive but they both learned from it, especially Hardin, who has anger issues, totally transformed to be the person Tessa deserves. The way they go through every turmoil thrown at their way and ends up being happily married is really powerful.In the end, from a stubborn, awful and angry boy and naive, stubborn and forgiving girl to one of the best authors, soft and affectionate husband/father and strong, loving and confident wife/mother, their story will truly be remembered as one of the best contemporary love story.
