Raven publishedhttp://www.amazon.com/Pythagoreans-El...In general, the Kirk half of K&amp;R had more value than the Raven half -- but old' Schofield ruined both halves.On the Presocratics, one simply has to study Cherniss' book, Aristotle's Criticism of Presocratic Philosophy (which is quite difficult), and then study the relevant papers of William Arthur Heidel (Heidel, Selected Papers). And then read the specialized monographs on individual figures. Burnet's book, Early Greek Philosophy, is absolutely brilliant, but is completely wrong on almost everything - but it is the sort of brilliance that makes it a book that is worth not just reading, but studying. Guthrie's two volumes (I &amp; II) in his History of Greek Philosophy that are dedicated to the Presocratics are useful in that they summarize much bibliography and often states the status questionis of a problem in clear terms (and they are very readable) - but Guthrie was himself a fool and missed a lot of what, after Cherniss and Heidel, should have been obvious.One fabulous monograph that very few will have heard of is J.W. I'd only read two non-fiction novels, yet. And those two are included in my favorites! Apparently, One Child, is one of them. This was the only book yet that I'd read in just one sitting. I couldn't stop reading it! Torey Hayden was amazing! She made me care for all the characters. And Sheila! The amazing girl that made me ashamed of my existence. Oops, sorry. I was just so amazed by how strong this girl was. My God, for a six year old, those difficulties were too much. Even I doubt if I could get through those as Sheila did. Thanks to Torey's amazing writing. It felt like I didn't want this book to end. I wanted to know what happens next to Sheila. What happens to the other children. I felt so attached to them that reaching the end of the book felt as heartbreaking as reading about Sheila's life awful experiences.A great book. Great characters. Great and golden-hearted author! A great experience that I might not had if I hadn't read this book. So much thanks to Ms. Torey Hayden.

The Future Lied To UsA reminiscence, rather than a memoir, tumbling between the time before war, eleven years of brutal fighting, and then its aftermath. Despite her poor condition as a low class girl in the male dominated society, Jang Geum overcame a series of social discrimination and landed herself as a royal cook, later becoming the royal physician, then ultimately the physician in charge of the king. She was even given by the king the title "The Great Jang Geum."

Jun-Sang moves to a small town in the country and meets Yoo-Jin in the local high school. They fall in love, but Jun-Sang faces a terrible tragedy and gets killed in a car accident. Ten years later, Yoo-Jin meets a guy who looks just like her Jun-Sang. Yoo-Jin has to choose between her current boyfriend and a person who reminds her of her dead sweetheart.
