Elderly and hard working Gye Choon is single-candidly raising her grand daughter Hye-Ji after her parents death. One day Gye Choon loses her grand daughter at the market and goes searching for her. Twelve years later Gye Choon is reunited with her grand daughter, whom has been living a hard life on the streets with crime and troubles.

Doo-Sik (Jo Jung-suk) gets paroled from prison thanks to his younger brother (Do Kyung-Soo) Doo-Young. Doo-Young is a promising judo athlete. After 15 years, Doo-Sik (Jo Jung-suk) suddenly appears in front of Doo-Young and they begin to live together. Doo-Young becomes involved in an accident before the selection for the national team.

An old man suffering from depression is found dead and his housekeeper, Mi Ran, is charged with the murder. Mi Ran's defense attorney, Soon Ho, is surprised to learn the only witness to the crime is Ji Woo, a teenage girl with Asperger's. He is at first scared at his older brother, who insists on swinging his fists at people for what he wants. Reunited with each other, the two brothers learn what it is to be a family.

A penniless history teacher Suk-bong had no interest in how his younger brother Ju-bong, a promising businessman at a construction firm, has been doing his whole life. At their father's funeral, the family reunion is made in many years in their hometown Andong, but Suk-bong is only after the relics at home that could make money and Ju-bong is after winning the contract of Andong highway construction project for his company. One day, they hit a mysterious lady named 'Aurora' by car who starts to suffer from memory loss after the accident. As time goes by, two brothers find secrets of their family through this lady that they had never known.

The film tells the story of an elderly woman (played by Na Moon Hee) who constantly files complaints with the local office about the wrongs that she sees around her each day. Along the way, she forms an unlikely friendship with a junior civil service officer (played by Lee Je Hoon) who begins to teach her English. Though the film is a comedy, the genre serves as a vehicle to discuss the deeper topic of Korean comfort women during World War II.

In 2001, four Pakistani Britons, Ruhal Ahmed, Asif Iqbal and Shafiq Rasul and another friend, Monir, travel to Pakistan for a wedding and in a urge of idealism, decide to see the situation of war torn Afganistan which is being bombed by the American forces in retaliation for the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Once there, with the loss of Monir in the wartime chaos, they are captured by Northern Alliance fighters. They are then handed them over the American forces who transport them to the prison camps at the Guantanamo Bay base in Cuba. What follows is three years of relentless imprisonment, interrogations and torture to make them submit to blatantly wrong confessions to being terrorists. In the midst of this abuse, the three struggle to keep their spirits up in that face of this grave injustice.
