All Jack Blank knows is his bleak, dreary life at St. Barnaby’s Home for the Hopeless, Abandoned, Forgotten, and Lost, an orphanage that sinks further into the swampland of New Jersey with each passing year. I liked the Heroes of Olympus a lot more than Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The new cast of characters are wonderful, and I love seeing the old cast a bit more mature than when we last saw them. I figured my Greek mythology knowledge was pretty good, but I learned more about life previous to the Greek gods in this series. What's fun is that this knowledge is weaved into the background of the story. Seeing all the demigods grow into their own and work together was a lot of fun. Where as Percy/Annabeth are a minor aspect of the prequel, it's more of a major plot element in this series and I grew to adore those two together. I'd love to seem them again in another story. The only thing I really didn't like about this series was Nico. After the end of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, I was really excited to see Nico. After Nico made friends and was accepted by the camp, I expected him to be a cool character. Instead, Riordan decided to pretend like Nico hadn't been accepted or made any friends, and he became more whiny and obnoxious than he had ever been. He irritated me pretty much the entire series.
