In 1903, a student at a military academy sent some of his verses to a well-known Austrian poet, requesting an assessment of their value. Later Dan taught me how to cure a salmon, and we decided to co-host a dinner party in the second week of April. I doubt we would have come to this conclusion without having read The Fall.
