This is a story about determination and believing in oneself. The main character is a small bumblebee. He read that he couldn’t fly and was filled with disbelief in himself. He remains determined and keeps trying to prove he can survive. The end of the book provides a wonderful message for children and can provide support when they may be faced with challenges. This book is a wonderful read aloud because of the literary element of rhyming and upbeat language. It also has bright illustrations that add to the amazing message. The illustrations are so colorful and fill each page, showing Buzzy's adventures as he learns he can fly, despite anyone who tells him differently.I would give this book a 5 star rating because of the message it delivers. There are many times when children may be facing obstacles, and this book could pull them through. It has an important message that if they believe in themselves, they can prove people wrong. It is easy to read and the artwork is very vibrant.

Sweet! Here´s my newyear´s tradition continued, first book of the year is a Beatrix Potter. This time it´s the tale of grey squirrel Timmy Tiptoes, his wife Goody and and a little chipmunk. Here´s some background info:Beatrix Potter loved the countryside and she spent much of her Victorian childhood drawing and studying animals. Her passion for the natural world lay behind the creation of her famous series of little books. A particular source of inspiration was the English Lake District where she lived as a farmer and land conservationalist. In 1911 Potter was preparing The Tale of Timmy Tiptoes, which was aimed to appeal to her many American fans, featuring animals of American origin, squirrels, chipmunks and a black bear. Cute and gorgeous drawings. Lovely start of the year once again with Beatrix Potter!

My traditional start of the reading year with a Beatrix Potter tale. The tale of Mrs. Tittlemouse, obsessed with keeping her house clean while visitors disturb her tidy house 'and without any invitation' according Mrs. Tittlemouse, such as the rather intruding toad Mr. Jackson, in search of honey... leaving large wet footmarks on the parlour floor... Quite charming, cute, lovely drawings once again... 2019 has started! Mrs. Tittlemouse was a most terribly tidy particular little mouse, always sweeping and dusting the soft sandy floors...

I had always looked at this book with some trepidation, glaring back at me as it did so in its Tolstoyan enormity (it is over 100 pages long, a mammoth tome in the Beatrix Potter catalogue) from the bookshelf, but eventually I realised there was no denying the inevitability of my having to take it down and actually read it. Good job too, as it is rather good. Plot-wise it is a rather simple tale of a rather simple pig, who is sent to town for provisions for his aunts, but comes a-cropper when he meets up with a friendly, but not terribly trustworthy man. The ensuing sea journey for Robinson is one which he enjoys up to the point when the ship's cat lets him know that the trip is not likely to end well for him, and arranges for Robinson to escape. Literary references abound in this dramatic story (bong trees, owls, desert islands etc.) which only add to the enjoyment. So don't be put off by the size, just sit down and devote a good hour (including a tea-break) or so of your time to this classic.

Beatrix Potter is a much better storyteller when her tales are longer. She delves deeper in to the nature of animals-the darker side of their nature-and her stories are better for it.There are two more dangerous animals in this tale-a fox and a badger-and rather than being calm gentlemen who smoke pipes and natter, they are portrayed here almost true to form. They're rather vicious and vindictive if one takes their personified forms too literally. In truth, they are just the animals we know them as, albeit with the standard Beatrix waistcoat and walking cane.The illustrations are a little different here: we have the darling watercolours that bring so much life to the stories, and we also have black and white engravings that add another dimension: perhaps not so much to the story but to the Beatrix Potter Legend overall.Peter Rabbit also makes an appearance here, and I much prefer him as an adult than as a rather tiresome little bunny. Like all of her stories there are darker natural elements to all of them, and most include some form of eating, whether it be Mr McGregor putting rabbits in pies or Badgers putting rabbits in pies; whatever the case may be, we all know that pies are the best. Long live pies.

Invariably, the ghost or monster was apprehended and revealed to be an apparently blameless authority figure or otherwise innocuous local who uses the disguise to cover up a crime or scam. After proclaiming "And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!", the villain was then taken away to prison, and the gang was allowed to continue on their way to their destination.

In the Dark Ages, there was a race of heroic warrior monsters known as Gargoyles. These creatures existed as stone during the day, but become flesh and blood at night. One Scottish clan made an alliance with humans to help protect a castle by night if the humans would protect their stone forms by day. The uneasy alliance was shattered when human prejudice provoked a betrayal that allowed the castle to be sacked and most of the resident clan destroyed, leaving only six adult survivors and a rookery of unhatched eggs. A further misunderstanding during the clan's retaliation on the invaders and rescue of their hostages left the clan frozen in stone by a magic spell that would only be broken when the "castle rises above the clouds." For a thousand years, the castle laid abandoned and the clan condemned by this curse. In 1994, a wealthy multibillionare named David Xanatos (Jonathan Frakes) bought the castle and transported the whole structure to Manhattan, where he placed it on top of the Eyrie building which he owned. It is high enough to be above the clouds, thus the conditions of the spell were met and the Gargoyles were revived. Now, this clan must adjust to this new age and gain friends, like Detective Elisa Maza (Salli Richardson-Whitfield), who reveals that Xanatos revived them to exploit them for his unscrupulous ends. This is coupled by the fact that another Gargoyle comrade, Demona (Marina Sirtis), is alive from their age, and is now an insane renegade bent on the extermination of humanity. Rebelling against them, the clan abandon the castle and pledge to protect New York City like they protected the castle in the past.
