Three Blind Mice: A Short Story

2013Agatha Christie

4.8/5

5/5 stars Three blind mice, three blind mice,See how they run, see how they run,They all ran after the farmer's wife,Who cut off their tails with a carving knife,Did you ever see such a thing in your life,As three blind mice? Something to listen to while reading this ♥My first Agatha Christie book was a simple short story, and yet it blew my mind like only a few books have done before. I can barely describe the feeling of sitting somewhere, letting your mind race to theory upon theory about who the murder is, reaching a near impossible theory and feeling like it's the answer, and then feeling it slip off your fingertips like sand.I cannot describe how incredibly clever and fast paced such a small book can be, fitting so much mystery, and so many complicated, layered and deeply psychological characters in such a small amount of pages. It was genius . Absulutely genius. Plus, this book contained some multiple POV love, which I believe is quite important for crime stories (but I generally enjoy multiple POVs in every story). The writing was very quick, and the characters were deeply analysed psychologically, but also barely scratched the surface of their thoughts, in order to create an atmosphere of disorder, and let the reader make more assumptions about the killer.Overall, I believe it is a great starting point for those who want to read Agatha Christie, and I am definitely going to check more works of hers out in the near future ♥Until the next review, keep reading (and catching killers in stories)~Mary ♥
