Books like The Little Kitten

So I made a mistake a few weeks ago. I read the little guy The Day Tiger Rose Said Goodbye. As he told me the following week, probably on the suggestion of his parent's, it was too mature. I'm not so sure about that. Death sucks there's no doubt about that but it strikes at any age. To make amends I have been keeping an eye out for books about cats that don't die to try to erase the whole Tiger Rose episode from his mind. Thankfully he didn't bring her up at the end of this book like he did last week after an innocent book about a dog (that didn't die). This book was originally published in 1983. The cover was redone recently so that it looks a bit more contemporary. It's not. There are a few pictures that place it firmly in nostalgia land though and the text is rather long winded. I abridged it drastically about half way through by just explaining the pictures with a simple sentence. Maybe later we'll read the unabridged version. At 4 though he didn't notice the editing and I was ready for a nap of my own.
