Books like Five Little Monkeys Sitting in a Tree

I'll give it an extra star because my baby finds it entertaining enough, but I found this book to be awkward, lazy writing. While most of it is made up of catchy rhyme, the beginning and end have absolutely no rhythm, making it feel like a line of dancers crashing into a dumpster fire.Mommy monkey was foolish enough to take a nap while her unruly monkey children are playing by a river occupied by a supposedly dangerous alligator. They tease Mr. Crocodile and he snaps at them, knocking them out of the tree one by one. After they're all safe and sound, Mommy awkwardly scolds them for being "not nice" and then they all proceed to eat lunch.It sounded like the author hit some serious writers block in the end and couldn't think of anything witty to say. My biggest gripe with the ending was that it turned into tedious lecture. Kid are very bright, so if you have to spell out the moral explicitly, it probably wasn't demonstrated clearly enough throughout the story.Plus someone probably should have scolded Mommy Monkey for being negligent...I know, I know, it's just a children's book :) If the writing was better quality, I could forgive Mommy Monkey for her nearly fatal parenting decision.
